Eagle America Spline Jig
As a carpenter I occasionally get to dabble into woodworking and cabinet making. One thing I enjoy doing is making boxes with different, good looking joints. dove tails, box joints and splines quickly come to mind. Using these types of joints always increases the strength of ther project but also is asthetically pleasing.
Splines are often used when making furniture, picture frames and boxes, spline joints add the look and feel of quality to your project. splines increase the strength of your projects joint by providing more gluing surface. One method with using splines is to use a contrasting wood color as your spline.
In woodworking, a spline is a strip of wood inserted into matching grooves or plows, along the edges of two boards. The purpose of the spline is to reinforce and align the board edges. There are many applications where a spline can be used as a substitute for the tongue and groove.
