RIDGID recently introduced a cool new accessory that I think is going to create lots of buzz this year. It’s the RIDGID 100 Watt Power Inverter RD97100. The RD97100 is a power inverter for your automobile. It allows you to charge and/or power up to three different devices including:
- 120 volt / 15 amp outlet lets you run standard 125 volt appliances including things like battery chargers for your tools.
- USB Port – For charging and powering items like cell phones.
- 2.1A USB Port – For charging larger items like an iPad.
Powering My Mobile Office
Being a contractor means working out of my truck more often than my base office. One of the biggest problems I’ve had over the years is being able to power all the electronic devices I rely on so heavily. My truck is often packed with a laptop or iPad, digital camera, layout laser, cell phone, and even battery chargers. The funny thing is not one of those items runs off a auto cigarette lighter with the exception of my phone.
In the past I’ve tried auto power inverters but they were really big, bulky and never seemed to provide smooth dependable power. So I was really happy to hear RIDGID is now offering a power inverter for automobiles. I recently got my hands on their RD97100 power inverter and I’m completely hooked. The inverter has no problems power three different devices at once. On several occasions I was able to charge my iPad, my cell phone all while charging a RIDGID 12V battery pack.
The kit comes with the charger, a rubber protective case and a 12V cigarette lighter that powers the inverter. The front panel on the inverter is extremely easy to understand and use.
It also comes with a bonus rubber case to help protect it. With a built-in fan it can keep cool while running long and hard while you’re at work.
The RIDGID RD97100 is impressive. This is an accessory that every contractor should have in their truck. Shoot I think everyone should have one in each vehicle they own especially if you use devices on the road like iPads, cell phones, and laptops. Priced at $24.97 these are a great value. I can’t charge makita 18v batteries with this, and there brand new. Works fine for cells and smaller stuff. Maybe it’s something on my end but its doubtfull, going to buy a contractor grade power supply, and not from Home Depot.
