Hearing Loss In Trades – It’s REAL!

One in ten Americans have hearing loss that affects his or her ability to understand normal speech. Loss of hearing is most commonly caused by excessive exposure to noise. When you experience a noise that is too loud, it starts to kill the inner ears nerve endings.  Long term exposure to loud noise can destroy these nerve endings.  The more nerve endings that die, the greater your loss of hearing and unfortunately, there is no way to restore life to dead nerve endings; the damage is permanent.

First impressions are hard to beat, I immediately noticed how soft and comfortable the foam ear cushion was. The earmuffs fit with a tight seal, part of the noise-reduction feature. The headband is ventilated and the Bluetooth functionality is Siri/Google voice compatible.

I’ve had hearing protection from a big box store and they always ends up giving  me a headache at the end of the day from the pressure it put on my head.  This is not the case with the Link headphones, they’re comfortable.

ISOtunes Link – ANSI Certified Noise Reduction

The ISOtunes Link Bluetooth Headphones provide a noise-canceling Bluetooth solution for those wanting an over-the-ear solution that keeps them within OSHA hearing-protection levels.

The Link passively cancels noise to achieve an ANSI-certified 24dB SPL of noise reduction. ISOtunes uses what they call SafeMax technology, to limit the Bluetooth listening volume to 85 dB to meet OSHA guidelines. This is one area where users complain about the volume of their music – but it’s a purpose-built feature and its done to be compliant with the OSHA 85dB guideline.

Bluetooth 4.2 Connectivity

Regarding Bluetooth, ISOtunes opted for version 4.2 wireless connectivity. One nice feature is that there is a built in microphone for taking phone calls. All the navigational controls live on the right-side earcup allowing you to leave your phone in your pocket and take phone calls, skip mucis tracks, and adjust the volume.

Durability

The headphones are rated at IPX4 rating, making them dust, water and sweat-resistant.

ISOtunes Link Bluetooth Earmuffs – Runtime

The ISOtunes Link Headphones run off either batteries or an included rechargeable Lithium-ion battery that is touted to deliver up to 14 hours runtime. ISOtunes says that if you swap out the rechargeable battery and use three AAA batteries you can expect 28 hours of runtime.

ISOtunes Link – Sound Quality

The ISOtunes Link works great and the sound is crisp and clear. Taking a phone call was easy and results in excellent reception and quality. I took several calls and my headset picked up the call and blocked out enough of the background noise (not 100%, but effective enough) for me to have a conversation without having to leave the shop.

Overall Impression

The ISOtunes Link Bluetooth Headphones provide great hearing protection and care comfortable enough for me to wear these all day without issue

Overall, I’m happy with the quality and performance of this headset for the workshop or jobsite. I feel that ISOtunes built a solid performing product without compromise quality. Well done!
