Porter-Cable 18 Volt Oscillating Multi-Tool Giveaway

Father’s Day Giveaway by Porter-Cable

Father’s Day is just around the corner next weekend. To celebrate we’ve teamed up with the folks at Porter-Cable to offer one lucky reader a brand new Porter-Cable 18 Volt Oscillating Multi-Tool (PCCK510LA). This exciting new tool is just now hitting the stores so this is a great chance to win something new to the marketplace.

About This New Tool

PORTER-CABLE announces the launch of a new 18 Volt Oscillating Multi-Tool as a kit (PCCK510LA) and bare model (PCC510B).  These models are built with PORTER-CABLE’s industry-leading Tool Free SystemÔ blade change technology and offer double the runtime per charge compared to PORTER-CABLE’s 12V MAX† oscillating multi-tool (PCL120MTC-2). The tool’s performance, compact size and compatibility with Porter Cable’s 18V Lithium Ion and NiCD battery platforms makes it ideal for remodelers, carpenters, general contractors and other tradesmen who are completing cutting, sanding, scraping and grinding applications on the jobsite.

“When we spoke to users they really appreciated the versatility of using the oscillating multi tool for many different applications, but they also expressed their frustration with the lack of run time,” said Wil Granger, Group Product Manager, PORTER-CABLE. “With our customers’ frustrations in mind, we are launching an 18V cordless oscillating tool under $200.  This tool is designed to meet the needs of professionals and help provide increased productivity on the jobsite with longer runtime per charge compared to the PCL120MTC-2 12V MAX† Oscillating Multi-Tool.”

The PCCK510LA provides double the run time per charge when used with the PC18BLX compact battery and triple the run time per charge when used with the PC18BLEX extended runtime Lithium Ion or PC18B NiCD batteries compared to PORTER-CABLE’s 12 Volt MAX† model (PCL120MTC-2),  so tradesmen can complete more tasks on a single charge.  The tool also incorporates PORTER-CABLE’s innovative Tool Free System™ blade change technology that allows for quick accessory changes without bolts or wrenches.

Both the PCCK510LA and PCC510B offer users a great value with more than $135 in accessories included, allowing contractors to cut, sand, scrape or grind. The variable speed unit features an oscillating angle of 2.8 degrees allowing control when making cuts on finished surfaces and delivers 7,500 to 15,000 oscillations per minute (OPM). Weighing just 2.8 pounds with the battery, this tool is compact, comfortable and includes an oversized, easy-to-reach switch and an ergonomic handle with an over–molded, non-slip grip.

Available in June 2012 at Lowe’s and independent distributors, the PCCK510LA oscillating multi-tool kit is expected to retail for approximately $169. The tool kit comes with one PC18BLX Lithium Ion battery, one PCXMVC 18V Multi-Chemistry Charger, 32 accessories, an accessory box and a kit bag. The bare tool (PCC510B) will also be available in the back half of 2012 for $89.97. The bare tool also comes with the same 32 accessories.  The PCCK510LA and PCC510B will each come with a three-year limited warranty, one-year service contract and 90-day money-back guarantee.

Being a DIY home owner, tools such as this come in handy for multiple jobs. One task I would be using this tool for is under- cutting door frames and trim to install laminate or engineered flooring. Another would be removing grout or caulk before replacing it.

I put in a lot of windows and doors. I would definitely use the tool to cut off the shims in a timely manner. I do a lot of chiseling and chipping away it would come in handy there as well. Also I install a lot of floors and it would be convienent to trim up casings and jambs to get the flooring underneath.

I want to win this for my husband. Hes a gifted builder with an eye for detail. A compact tool like this would be great to cut those hard to reach places.
