Makita Returns to Snocross as Team Sponsor And New Series Sponsorship
If you’re a contractor, no doubt you know about Makita. If you live in the snow belt (northern US and all of Canada) you’ve heard of Snocross snowmobile racing. These worlds collide for another season as Makita returns to snocross to team up with the Warnert Racing factory Skidoo team, and this year they are a series sponsor as well. This means that Makita tools will be in the hands of the series staff while they build and maintain tracks and facilities. This also means that Makita has a booth at these races so that spectators can see all the latest and greatest offerings.
Power Tools and Snowmobiles
So what to power tools have to do with snowmobile racing? Besides the obvious, that tools are needed to maintain these 200 HP rockets, contractors and construction-industry related professionals spend a lot of money in the powersports industry. In warmer states, it could be on motorcycles and ATVs. In the north, a lot of guys ride snowmobile. At the masonry restoration company I used to work for, a significant number of the field employees all rode snowmobile. Whether it was to get out to the ice shack or cruising the trails, they were spending money in the snowmobile market. The current company I work for a significant number either rides or used to ride. Of all of the tradesmen I know, a good portion of them ride as well.
Brand Loyalty
If you thought Ford, Chevy, and Dodge fans were bad, just wait until you get an Arctic Cat, Polaris, and Skidoo fan all in the same room. They can go on for hours why their brand is the best and the other two brands are the worst. Makita knows that riders are extremely brand loyal so a series-wide sponsorship and booth is a way to show and tell their tools to contractors away from the job site. Maybe get them to consider Makita over their current brand for their next tool purchase. It got my Polaris-loving, Dewalt-using buddy to sit on a Makita-colored Skidoo for the first time in his life. Maybe Makita is onto something…
Press Release
MAKITA RETURNS TO SNOCROSS AS TEAM SPONSOR, AND INCREASES PRESENCE WITH NEW SERIES SPONSORSHIP
Makita becomes new Official Tool Sponsor of ISOC Snocross for 2015-16
NOVEMBER 25, 2015 – La Mirada, CA – Makita® Power Tools has returned as a sponsor of one of snocross racing’s top teams, joining NRK® and BRP’s Ski-Doo brand as official sponsors. Makita Tools NRK® Ski-Doo Factory Racing will compete in the 2015-16 AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series, the featured national series within International Series of Champions (ISOC) snocross racing.
Makita has also expanded its snocross presence, becoming the Official Power Tool Sponsor ISOC and a Presenting Race Sponsor of the Snocross National in Fargo.
A Top Team, with the Hardware to Prove It
The team has been a competitive force in professional snocross snowmobile racing since it was formed in 1999, and has captured five season championships in AMSOIL Championship Snocross.
“In championship snocross racing, this team is consistently on the box and has earned the hardware to prove it,” said Brent Withey, director of brand marketing, Makita USA. “As a returning sponsor, we know that end users who follow snocross and come out to the races are brand loyal, so it’s natural to partner with ISOC as it allows us to reach these fans off the job site, and let them experience Makita’s latest innovation.”
“As a sponsor of winning teams in action sports, Makita brings energy and innovation,” said Mark Warnert, co-owner of the team. “They also bring the world’s best power tools for our crews. Whether it’s in the shop or in the pits on race day, Makita gives our technicians the tools they need even in the worst conditions.”
“ISOC Racing President Carl Schubitzke stated “We are excited to partner with Makita this year. Our team relies on tools to work in the most extreme conditions, and the only tools we trust are Makita.”
Proven Talent Returns for 2015-16 Season
Makita Tools NRK® Ski-Doo Factory Racing is entering the 2015-16 season with proven racing talent. Two-time Swedish Pro-Lite Champion John Stenberg #259 returns to the Pro Open class after several top-10 finishes in 2014-15. Fellow countryman Elias Ishoel #200 is the defending 2014-15 runner-up in the Pro-Lite class, and will be seen as a frontrunner in the new season.
Official Tool of ISOC Snocross Racing
Makita’s new status as Official Tool of ISOC means an increased snocross presence. Makita tools will be in the hands of ISOC staff as they build and maintain race venues. In addition, Makita will also be integrated into all races in the 2015-16 season with on-site activation that will include demonstrations and displays, allowing snocross race fans to see the very latest in Makita innovation.
Snocross is similar to motocross in the style of racing on closed circuits of varying shapes and sizes containing high-flying jumps, bumps and corners in both directions. The racing is close quarters with the riders rarely seated because of the rough conditions and speeds up to 65 mph. The 2015-16 season runs through March and includes national broadcast coverage on the CBS Sports Network.
