Milwaukee M12 Cable Cutter

Milwaukee M12 600 MCM Cable Cutter 2472-20 and 2472-21XC:

Recently while attending the 2012 Milwaukee media event I got a chance to preview the new Milwaukee M12 Cable Cutter.

The Milwaukee M12 Cable Cutter now offers contractors a motorized solution for cutting large diameter cable and eliminates the hand cutting tools most often used.  These hand tools are often awkward too use inside an electrical box as well as require a lot of grip force to cut the cable.

Like all of 40 plus Milwaukee’s M12 tools, the Milwaukee M12 Cable Cutter has a compact design and powerful cutting mechanism, this tool easily fits into electrical panels and has impressive cutting force.  With a 2 speed gearing mechanism, this cutter delivers an impressive 5,000 pounds of cutting force, fits into tight spaces, and simplifies one of the most difficult jobs an electrician, datacomm, utility, or service contractor faces.

The Milwaukee M12 Cable Cutter is powered by M12 lithium-ion batteries and can make up to 150 cuts of 500 MCM copper per charge.

We used the tool to cut 4/0 or 0000 which is about the largest wire size likely to be found at residential electrical SECs as well as larger commercial sized, multiple copper strand cable.   While we certainly did not make 150 cuts we probably made 40- to 50 and the cable cutter was impressive to say the least.

Cutting Ability:

With up to a 600 MCM copper and 750 MCM aluminum capacity, the Milwaukee M12 Cable Cutter is applicable to almost all large commercial projects.  The Milwaukee M12 Cable Cutter can cut through several wire types commonly encountered by the user such as:

  • Copper,Milwaukee 600 MCM cable cutter

  • Paired Communication Cable,
