The mounting plate allows the Reel to swivel so the extension cord can be easily used in whichever direction is needed.

As with the extension reel, simply pull the hose to the desired length for up to 50′ of lightweight hose. A slight tug will allow the reel to self-wind. The reel also is very smooth and self-winds nicely.
