Tool Box Buzz – Cape Cod Service Event 2021

2021 Cape Cod Service Event

At Tool Box Buzz, we are vocal proponents of giving back – especially to those who have paved the way for us. That’s why, for the second year in a row, Tool Box Buzz has participated in the Sandwich Cape Cod Council on Aging-led Yard Clean-up service event. After serving alongside volunteers from the Local Air National Guard Wing (Otis ANG Base), Sandwich Public School students, and volunteers from the local stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in both 2020 and 2021, we decided to step up our game for 2021. I mean, when we recognize a great opportunity to serve who can say no?

In 2021, Tool Box Buzz took on the challenge of being a lead coordinator for the event, which included getting by with a little help form out friends. We reached out to some of the exceptional folks at Ryobi, DEWALT, Milwaukee, and DR power equipment. And they were quick to catch the excitement and came through in a big way with some much-needed Outdoor Power Equipment donations to make this the most far-reaching service project yet.

The Event, Summarized!

In coordination with the local City of Sandwich Council on Aging, 68 volunteers came together on a cold late November Saturday to give back to local senior citizens. Together they cleaned a total of 22 yards and disposed of over 650 bags of leaves. Volunteers also spent a solid 8 hours chipping limbs and branches knocked down in a series of recent storms. The residents were recommended by the local council on aging based on priority of need. They were also quick to help put the immediate impact into words of gratitude.

And those served during our 2021 Cape Cod Service Event were quick and heartfelt in the thanks they expressed.

To the guys and gals who raked 49 bags of leaves off my property- thank you. I can’t begin to tell you how much I appreciated that! -Pat

Yet another resident expressed her thoughts, saying:

I am a Sandwich senior (at 80) swamped with the overwhelming task of coping with debris from the recent storm. Today…..to each volunteer…..I thank you. -Carolyn

The equipment we used with great success, by manufacturer, is:

Ryobi

DEWALT

Milwaukee

DR Power Equipment

We want to respond to those we served by saying THANK YOU for the opportunity to give back! And to those tool sponsors who helped make our 2021 Cape Cod Service Event a success- THANK YOU! In a world, with plenty of need, we encourage all to use their skills, talents, and energy to volunteer.

Let’s build our community one project, one job, one service project at a time.
