Rockler Magnetic Cord Keeper Review

Keeping Shop Cords Off The Floor

Just last week Rockler announced a cool new gadget called the Magnetic Cord Keeper. I posted the press release that contained some basic information. Well they were kind enough to send me a package (2 in each package) to check out.

I really like the idea of having a simple way to clip your cords up off the floor out of the way. My drill press is a perfect example. For that I typically either wrap the cord around the tool or leave it dangling on the floor. In both situation it can either be dangerous or likely to cause damage to the cord.

Above you can see my drill press with the power cord wrapped around the handles. This isn’t overly dangerous but it’s a pain to wrap the cord and its not great bending the cord over and over again.

Above you can see the new Rockler Magnetic Cord Keeper holding the drill press power cord firmly against the tool. When I want to use the drill press I simply pull it free and plug it in.

Overall Impression

The Rockler Magnetic Cord Keeper is a really cool idea. Priced at $8 for a pair of them they are a good buy.

I would point out one item that I think could use some attention from their designers. Most of my shop equipment has large power cords. For the drill press and my miter saw (Bosch Glide) I had a hard time clipping the cord into the plastic/rubber receiver. I think they should either make it slightly larger or offer a couple sizes for small gauge and large gauge wires.

Overall these cool little cord keepers are sweet! I’d recommend you get a few for your shop!
