PORTER-CABLE® Launches New, Lightweight 15 AMP Chop Saw

PORTER-CABLE announces the launch of its new 15 AMP Chop Saw (PC14CTSD) that has been designed to offer contractors performance, ergonomics, ease of use, and durability. This chop saw is ideal for mechanical contractors, electrical contractors, metal fabricators, fence builders, and many other tradesmen, the PC14CTSD is capable of handling a number of metal cutting applications on professional jobsites.

“Our new Chop Saw is the perfect choice for value-driven contractors who are looking for professional-grade jobsite solutions at a reasonable price,” said Wil Granger, group product manager, PORTER-CABLE. “The power and features that this saw delivers make it an ideal solution for a number of metal cutting applications on professional jobsites, and we’ve been able to solve some of contractors’ most common concerns based upon models on the market today.”

Ergonomics and Performance
A 15 AMP, high torque motor delivers 3,800 RPM, which enables the new chop saw to cut through tough materials, including cast iron pipe, angle iron, threaded rod, conduit, square tubing, and more.
To address one of the most frequent user frustrations associated with chop saws – ergonomics – the PC14CTSD is equipped with a “D” handle design for comfort and control when making cuts. Additionally, a conveniently located carrying handle offers contractors a reliable and compact means of moving the unit from jobsite to jobsite. In addition, at 35.2 lbs., the PC14CTSD is slightly lighter than existing products on the market*, which is critical to contractors that need to move the saw around the jobsite.

Ease of Use
A 45 degree miter adjustment, depth adjustment, and quick release clamp allow the chop saw to easily complete most user applications. To safely cut material, the PORTER-CABLE Chop Saw is outfitted with a heavy-duty guard and adjustable spark deflector. In addition, onboard tool storage and storage chain offer the professional convenience on the job.

Durability
A ball bearing designed, 15 AMP, high torque motor with replaceable brushes provides the required life for the professional contractor. The model also includes a heavy-duty base and rubber feet for stability and less vibration during use.

The PC14CTSD will be available in March 2011 through independent distributors, and is expected to retail for approximately $149.97. The chop saw will come with a three-year limited warranty, one-year service contract and 90-day money-back guarantee.
