Porter-Cable Announces New Hammerdrill and Small Angle Grinder

7 AMP 1/2-inch Two-Speed Hammerdrill (PC70THD) and 7 AMP 4 1/2-inch Small Angle Grinder

TOWSON, Md. (Sept. 27, 2011) – PORTER-CABLE announces the launch of two new corded products ― a 7 AMP 1/2-inch two-speed hammerdrill (PC70THD) and a 7 AMP 4 1/2-inch small angle grinder/cut-off tool (PC60TPAG). Both the hammerdrill and small angle grinder are designed to offer aggressive performance and a compact, lightweight platform to professionals who are looking for corded power on the jobsite.

“These new corded models deliver performance and ergonomics at the value professionals have come to expect from PORTER-CABLE,” said Wil Granger, group product manager, PORTER-CABLE. “Both the two-speed hammerdrill and small angle grinder balance power with comfort and were designed to meet the needs of today’s contractors.”

Two-Speed Hammerdrill – PC70THD

The new 7 AMP 1/2-inch two-speed hammerdrill (PC70THD) offers outstanding drilling performance in a compact, lightweight package that is more powerful than its predecessor (PC650D), according to PORTER-CABLE testing. The hammerdrill’s high output 7 AMP motor delivers the power and durability to complete tough drilling applications. Its dual-mode function operates at 0-1,100/0-3,100 rotations per minute (RPM) respectively, providing two setting options to complete high-speed and high-torque applications. Delivering 52,700 blows per minute (BPM), the hammerdrill provides the impact energy necessary for drilling into concrete, tile, brick and mortar block.

The hammerdrill features ergonomics with a streamlined, over-molded handle for comfort during extended use. At only 5.1 pounds and 14.25 inches long, the PC70THD is lightweight and compact enough for applications in tight spaces. Metal gear housing helps to dissipate heat build-up and ensure long product life and jobsite durability.

Available in October 2011 at Lowe’s, Amazon.com and the independent channel, the PC70THD will retail for approximately $79.97 and comes standard with a side handle, depth rod and chuck key.

Small Angle Grinder/Cut-Off Tool – PC60TPAG

The new 4 1/2-inch small angle grinder/cut-off tool is ideal for contractors, welders, fabricators, masons and other tradesmen whose work includes grinding, metal cutting, polishing and tuckpointing. The grinder’s 7 AMP motor delivers up to 11,000 RPM for tough jobsite applications while the cast metal gear housing helps to dissipate heat, ensuring that it will stand up to the demands of today’s worksite.

One of the lightest among comparable models on the market at only 4.1 pounds, the PC60TPAG joins the PC60TAG small angle grinder model that launched earlier this year. The PC60TPAG features a three-position handle for ease of use and positioning for a variety of applications. What sets this unit apart from previous PORTER-CABLE models is the paddle switch. Designed with contractor feedback and control in mind, the paddle switch is comfortable and convenient to use while protecting the user.

Recognizing the growing trend on the jobsite of using a traditional grinder with a cut off guard for cutting metal, a grinding guard and cutting guard are included with the PC60TPAG, allowing users to complete additional applications. The two guards are tool-free and can be easily adjusted to control the spark path, increasing productivity and safety on the jobsite. Additional accessories include a side handle, grinding wheel, cut-off wheel, and a wrench.

The PC60TPAG is now available through Lowe’s, Amazon.com and the independent channel, and retails for approximately $59.97.

Both the PC70THD and PC60TPAG come with a three-year limited warranty, one-year service contract and 90-day money-back guarantee.
